The man behind heists

I’m always amazed by heists.  You see it in the movies all the time but never really hear about it in real life besides the over-the-counter stick-em-ups.  Now here’s a guy who took it to the extreme.  He eventually got caught, but imagine if he hadn’t or if we applied his passion to something more altruistic.  Man, this article got it right calling it the “Art of the Steal.”

The Kit Kat Strat

Just because a product is successful in one place, it shouldn’t be assumed it’ll be successful elsewhere.  We saw that when Wal-mart first opened in China.  The model that was so successful in the US just didn’t seem to work there. It wasn’t until they began to understand the regional and cultural differences of the country did they really begin to succeed overseas.  Just like any product, when it comes to taking a well known product and selling it in a new place, you have to think of the customers.  Instead you see many companies taking the tact of “the product is always right” instead of the “customer is always right.”

Kit Kat has done just done and it’s a testament to how to think of your customers in both product development and marketing.  Great story of how they operate on a different model in a different country. Now if I could only get some of those flavors here!

Sometimes you forget the power of music and Playing for Change is a site that will make you remember.  Taking songs “around the world,” you get to experience amazing music through a worldwide collaboration.  I love their rendition of Ben E. King’s Stand By Me. If the world was like this all the time, peace wouldn’t be too far behind…
